Katalina currently resides in San
Antonio, Texas but has lived in various
parts of the US and a couple of years
in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, cradle
of the Mariachi Music, where she was
trained in Mexican Folkloric and Flamenco
Dance. Katalina learned very early
on in her travels to appreciate diversity
and to respect the way's of life of
each of the towns she lived in. Katalina's
passion of music was instilled by
her mother who during the mid to late
1950's performed as a singer on various
Mexican Radio Shows. Growing up, Katalina's
house was filled with Mariachi music
recorded by her late brother-in-law
David Mendoza, as well as the music
of Latino greats such as Vicente Fernandez,
Lola Beltran, Pedro Infante, Juan
Gabriel, Rocio Durcal and of American
favorites such as Connie Francis,
Patsy Cline, The McGuire Sisters,
Elvis, Buddy Holly, and the Platters
to name a few. The blending of both
her Mexican and American cultures
will be heard as Katalina charts a
new course in the Latin Market with
her upcoming debut Spanish Language
Country Album. Katalina's Mexican
Heritage of flare and passion are
intertwined with the steel guitars
and drums of Nashville Country bringing
a unique take on the joys and sorrows
of everyday life. |
